Another old sketch renewed

I did this sketch in 2012. Left the sketchbook rotting in the office for years. Then found it again by chance, and decided to breathe a new life to it and put it up here to the collections.

Towards End of 2016

I realized that some of my students (I teach architectural communication by the way) don’t even know that I draw other things than buildings. Well, duh. There’s a whole life of your teacher than you haven’t seen before you met or knew him. This is my side.

I love to draw, I still do. I just need to spend more time to do it, and less of… you know… LIFE.

UTM Architecture Alumni Visit 2016

I was given the privilege by KALAM Centre to share our collection of architectural heritage studies with our visiting alumni in conjunction with the Grand Alumni Dinner we organized the night before.

Heritage studies is a component in our architectural programme that exposes the students to traditional vernacular architecture. Initially it covers only old Malay houses, but eventually it has expanded over the years to cover all sorts of architecture, focusing on historically rich and culturally significant constructions in South East Asia.

Here you can see some of the scaled models of some of the oldest surviving mosques in Negeri Sembilan produced recently in August 2016.

Universal Design for All

Here’s an introduction piece I did to close the #inktober 2016 challenge. For the whole month I’ve attempted to produce one drawing a day, each day focusing on a specific disability and how it can/should/would be solved using architecture.

It had a great reception on Facebook, and I’m really glad that it got the attention of people who’re concerned about disabilities, the authorities as well as the general public. A local social media news site also covered and published about it! Read about it here (it’s in Bahasa Malaysia!).

Getting published

when i first started doing the BFBC2 comics, it was just for fun as i love the PS3 beta and just couldn’t get my hands off it. in fact it took quite a chunk off my attention, and i use it to get my mind off writing my thesis. at least it eases the tension off a bit.

i didn’t expect the kind of reception it got in the following weeks. people have been asking – no – demanding for more, so occasionally when i have the time i would sit down and scribble a new comic. it was given the honours when DICE themselves recognize the game and featured it on the battlefield blog. i was ecstatic.

then it immediately got the attention of a wider audience, which i am more than grateful for. a russian gaming magazine, gameland.ru, contacted me for publication rights. i traded in publicity and promotion in exchange for the publication rights. this is the first time the comics have been featured on printed media.

Sharing some old works

Here's a concept character design I did for a friend. It's for a game which got developed quite a bit but did not manage to publish. The character is a lightly armoured mobile cavalry of sorts, but instead of horses, they ride hoverbikes into battle.

The Rage is ON!

it's the 2nd of march. BFBC2 has now been officially released in the US. it will only be available in europe on the 4th, while the UK and the rest of the world on the 5th. for a full 3 days now, the world will rage against the US. strike that, against DICE lol.

today’s the day…

i woke up on sunday morning with thick snow and a message from DICE_Pirelli. he suggested a story for the comics. i've already got two in the production pipeline, so i thought, sure. i read it and i laughed out loud. it's simple and brilliant. so i quickly put this...

Busy body, or good samaritan?

a little over 8pm just now, the road in front of the house came to a stand still. a police car parked across the road, lights swivelling, alarming the residents and road users that something is up. from my window, the weather was gloomy, it's raining sleets and bits...

Feb 2010 Update

I'm currently in the process of migrating my sketchstation from Joomla to Wordpress. No disrespect to Joomla. It's great and powerful. But it's like owning a Jaguar but I only use to to go shopping once a week, every weekend nights. It's severely underused. So I opted...

BFBC2: Comics

Here's a couple of comics inspired by the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 game. I was involved as a beta tester on the PS3, and I'd have to say if you liked BFBC1, you're gonna love this. All are done digitally using a Wacom tablet and Painter 10.5 with a bit of CorelDraw...

quesada-meet-otomo

yet again another style embraced. a friend of mine pointed out how my style (or rather "styles") have gone from impressionistic pencils to 3D assisted sceneries to animated pixel arts. "wouldn't you want to stick to one style and develop it more?". would i? i doubt...

Predating Predators

too much of digital artworks can be hazardous to your health, haha! this piece was done with pencils in about 45 minutes. subject is dr. doom, redesigned as a predator in an alien environment.

happy place! think about your happy place!

just a little bored. here's a piece entirely done in coreldraw. it seems i wont be starting to use illustrator anytime soon, so might as well just build up on my coreldraw skills. ofcourse, illustrator is the preferred software for DTP and vector graphics processing....

another one around the corner

it's almost end of january, and i still couldnt come up with a good cause on why i need a virtual assistance to design education. owh, that's part of my PhD research, but it's one of the most crucial question that forms the core of the research. why would designers...
